What an Amazing Ride

I know the average American cares about the Tour de France without Lance Armstrong about as much as they care about the World Cup with the USA eliminated. But any fan of grit, determination, and will-power should love this year's tour.

We don't have the improbable comeback from cancer. We don't have the brash American who grounds his opponents into the melting tar roads. But we do have an amazing display of man on man battles from stage to stage, something was not often true during Armstrong's reign.

Floyd Landis (USA) is kind, easy-going, driven, and likeable. He is also flat out amazing. After loosing his lead and slipping more than 8 minutes (a HUGE amount in cycling) behind, Landis rode his way back into the tour. He attacked at the beginning of a grueling mountain stage and rode alone past all his competitors and now sits just 30 seconds off the lead entering the final test, Saturday's time trial. Tune into OLN and cheer for the guy, he exemplifies never say die spirit.
